Stigma, the stress of confronting age-old norms, and the societal pressure of ‘what will others say’ continue to adversely impact families planning to see assisted living facilities and dementia care as viable options for their elderly loved ones. We understand that the decision of seeking professional help for elderly residents is not easy. The families of our residents, especially the children, have also encountered such instances, on their journey to Epoch. We have some of our resident’s family members sharing their stories, experiences & perspectives about making the difficult, emotional decision. These will help other families in a similar situation to accept, acknowledge, explore and seek professional help for their parents.
We reached out to the Epoch team last year when my mom was not keeping well in the US having been in the hospital a few times and then trying to recover in the rehab after a pelvic fracture. Given her delicate health condition, we decided to move her to India and took the long flight with her from Washington DC to Delhi during the peak of the first covid wave in Delhi. The entire Epoch team was constantly in touch from the very beginning by showing us a virtual tour of the facility room to help finalize the care contract coordinating every step of the entire move. After landing we were picked from the airport and moved to a neighboring hotel that included 24/7 attendants for my mom to help her transition into the new environment. We were welcomed with multiple check-ins by various staff (using PPE kits) to customize her diet and other needs that made us feel really comfortable and at ease. The facility was very clean too and it was wonderful to see the team so receptive and responsive to every little request. Having been the main caregiver in the US, it was very relieving to get this support and after a week she was tested and moved to the main facility. Very thankful to the entire team who made this so seamless and smooth despite the stressful Covid situation!

We were extremely worried about the actual exercise of moving our mother to Epoch. Esp, since she was not aware of the fact that she was being moved due to her diminished comprehension and memory. The epoch team completely exceeded our expectations here. They had thought through and planned for the smallest things that would make the transition as smooth as possible. Details we would have never thought of (or considered). From setting up the room, right down to paying attention to the ensuring familiar smells, we were instantly comfortable and knew she was in good hands. The following 6 weeks reconfirmed all that and she has settled in beautifully to her new home and loves it there. She has got a new life, thanks to the fantastic team at Epoch.

Our move-in experience at Epoch (an assisted living and Dementia care centre) in Gurugram was indeed very smooth and hassle free. Since it was Covid times, strict protocols were in place. After following all the norms we were allowed access inside the facility. A few interactive sessions were in place to help us clarify all our doubts till the time we were satisfied. Before taking the final call my sister (chronic schizophrenia) was given permission to see her room, have a round of the facility on a wheelchair and also interact with the nurses and staff members inside the facility. This happened a couple of times. To make the patient more comfortable and familiar to the surroundings(she would be moving in) she was even served meals of her choice. This further increased my liking for the place. Thus there is a sense of deep trust.

“He was not in a state to sit for more than 10 mins at a stretch, but my father managed a travel of 8 hours! My family and I owe this progress and stability to Epoch and their very fantastic care team!”
We experienced Epoch’s services in November 2020. My father was visiting us in Gurgaon, just before Covid hit us. He fell in the kitchen and was paralyzed neck below that instant. Post surgeries during his physical rehabilitation period in Delhi, he contracted Covid as well and was subsequently in the ICU...

I chose Epoch Elder Care for my mother who was suffering from cancer and needed palliative care. My journey with Epoch for nearly 5 months has been very overwhelming. My mother Mrs Sushila Kumari was looked after with the lots of love, best of medical and emotional assistance. She really enjoyed having delicious food, long conversations, celebrations with all the fellow family members. Epoch will always hold a special place in my heart and for that, my family and I shall always be grateful. With lots of love and best wishes!

I had surveyed several places before visiting Epoch. 2 primary factors drove the decision to choose Epoch, first being the location – it was located in Pune city and the second would be a home-like setup in an upscale apartment complex.

Epoch Elder Care emerged as an absolute lifeline for our family in our time of distress. From the moment we first contacted them, we felt reassured by their depth of knowledge & expertise in managing dementiaand their very real desire to provide the best care for their residents. As time has progresses, they have continued to provide excellent care for our parent. The carers are well trained and efficient, the nursing staff are knowledgeable and engaged and the management inspires a culture of genuine care and concern. We highly recommend their facilities.

The team here is helpful, compassionate and caring. I really like that even the housekeepers cal me “uncle”. I would definitely recommend this care home to my friends, in fact I stayed briefly at a community home in Lester County, UK and this experience has been much better.

I moved to Epoch because all my children are abroad and wanted me to live somewhere I am taken care of, especially since I have not been keeping well. I have stayed here for almost a year. The people here are nice, they are my friends, and not formal at all. I am picky when it comes to food but the team listens to my complaints and tries their best to accommodate my requests.

As all of us (sons and daughters are in UAE, US, and Canada) could feel much more comfortable than our home in India and other elder care homes we had tried. We could say more than a home away from home gave us piece of mind. Apart from friendly & caring atmosphere, daily routine of shower, hygiene maintenance, nutritious food for each elderly, lunch & dinner at dinning area, birthdays and events, 24X7 medical attention and trained attendants was excellent. Although money can't compensate for the care and services provided, God bless you all. Once again thank Mr. Kabir Chadha for opening Epoch.

Our father has been under Epoch's care since 2014. The attention to medical / physical well being as well as the sophisticated, caring approach to managing dementia that Epoch has provided is truly excellent, and way beyond anything else in India. While they operate professionally, it's with a warmth and flexibility that helps families like ours cope with the difficulties with the situation.

I love staying here. Yahan pe apne log hain, family jaise ho gaye hain (folks have become like family). I love doing arts and crafts, watching TV and spending some time with other residents.

My mother has been in the care of Epoch Elder Care nursing home and I am very impressed and satisfied with the professionalism and quality of service provided by them. The weekly health updates provided by them are of great value for someone who lives abroad and it gives me peace of mind that my mother is well taken care of.

Epoch is in a convenient location for us as my father was treated at Artemis Hosipital and we have family nearby. We are grateful that the staff is giving him such personal and attentive care and this is contributing considerably towards his continuing recovery. It's good to see residents having meals together with opportunities to socialise.

My mother 101 years, is in care of Epoch at Gurgaon since Jan 2017. We find their team professional, efficient and compassionate. Residents are treated with high level of dignity. We happily recommend the facility.

I wanted to say that since my mother has been at Epoch, she's been taken care of very well. She always seems to be very happy and I can tell that everyone there prides themselves on taking care of all of the patients. Being far away, I also greatly appreciate the weekly updates provided so that I can see how she is doing. Due to her condition (Alzheimer's) and knowing that it will not get any better, I am pleased with how she is cared for. To her, everyone there is family. Eating together, playing together, daily activities, etc. I could not have asked for a better place.
